Mike Toomey Texas Lobbyist
The San Antonio Business Journal reports on the way that lobbyists in Texas are tracked by the Texas Ethics Commission.
All lobbyists in Texas must register if they receive $1000 or more per quarter in payment for their work. Or if they spend $500 or more in activities normally associated with lobbying.
A searchable database has been provided by the Ethics Commission. You can find it here. You can search by lobbyist name or by companies to see what lobbyists they use. Lobbyists are listed along with their clients and the amount of money they receive.
A lobbyist is defined as anyone who has a direct communication with a state lawmaker or government official in hopes of influencing legislative activities. Direct communication includes phone calls, letters, or emails.
The Current Texas lobbyist database shows more than 1300 lobbyists registered in Texas.
