Texas revenue from taxes leapt upward by more than 10% in September of 2017. This past month brought $2.4 billion dollars into the state coffers. Undoubtedly an increase in spending in the oil and gas industry is behind the jump. However, retail spending was also up and added to the total. Our citizens have also spent more in the retail sector in 2017. Sales tax in September has increased 5.5% from 2016.
